Maintenance and upkeep requirements for plastic pipe fitting molds
Plastic pipe fitting molds are key tools for producing plastic pipes, and their maintenance and upkeep directly affect the lifespan and production quality of the molds. The following are the comprehensive maintenance requirements for plastic pipe fitting molds:
1、 Daily maintenance requirements
Cleaning and rust prevention:
Immediately remove plastic residue from the mold cavity and mating surface after each production, use a copper brush or soft cloth to clean, and avoid scratching the mold surface with steel tools
Blow the debris in the gaps of the moving parts (such as the ejector pin and slider) with compressed air, and then wipe them with cleaning agent
The cooling water circuit needs to be regularly blown clean of impurities with compressed air to prevent the accumulation of scale from affecting the cooling effect
Lubrication and maintenance:
Moving parts such as ejector pins, guide posts, and sliders need to be lubricated once a day using high-temperature and high-pressure resistant grease (such as molybdenum disulfide grease)
Lubrication frequency should be increased under high-frequency use or high temperature conditions
Component inspection:
Check whether the top pin is bent or stuck, and the clearance between the guide column and guide sleeve (normal 0.02-0.05mm)
Check if there are any pressure marks, residual flying edges, or deformation on the mating surface
2、 Regular maintenance requirements
Deep cleaning:
Thoroughly clean the long-term unused molds every quarter and check the internal rust prevention effect
The cooling system is rinsed weekly with a specialized cleaning agent to remove scale
Professional maintenance:
Add oil to the mold every 12 hours, and increase the frequency of refueling for special structures
Check if the fixed template screws and locking clips are loose
Comprehensive inspection:
Regularly inspect mold parts such as mold cavity, mold core, guide column, etc., to ensure that there is no damage or crack
Adjust parameters such as injection pressure and speed according to production needs
3、 Common faults and their solutions
Difficulty in material removal from the gate:
Reason: Poor smoothness of the sprue taper hole, material too soft, or nozzle spherical curvature too small
Processing: Grind the taper hole to Ra0.4 or above, set the gate pulling rod or ejector mechanism
Damage to guide post:
Reason: Excessive lateral displacement force or use as a load-bearing component
Solution: Add positioning keys to ensure the perpendicularity between the guide column holes and the parting surface
Dynamic template bending:
Reason: Excessive back pressure or use of low strength steel plates
Solution: Select high-quality steel and add support columns or blocks if necessary
Top pole issue:
Reason: Excessive force on demolding or insufficient lubrication
Solution: Check if the ejector pin is bent and replace the severely worn ejector pin in a timely manner
4、 Storage requirements
Environmental control:
The storage environment should be dry, well ventilated, and avoid moisture and high temperatures
To prevent the mold from getting damp and rusting, apply specialized protective oil if necessary
Placement method:
The mold should be placed vertically or fixed with a dedicated bracket to avoid deformation caused by stacking
Molds that have not been used for a long time need to be drained of water in the cooling water circuit and blown dry
Management measures:
Establish mold archives to record usage and maintenance status
New molds should be classified and managed, and stored according to usage needs
Through the maintenance measures of the above system, the service life of plastic pipe fitting molds can be effectively extended, ensuring production quality and efficiency. It is recommended to establish a complete maintenance record system, regularly inspect the status of molds, and promptly identify and address potential issues.
